How are we different from other acupuncturists?
If you are looking for a multi-layered treatment that incorporates many traditional Chinese medical (TCM) forms of healing in every session, you have found the place! I believe that every healer has its specialty. I will explain the difference here so that you can clearly see why you would choose our clinic instead of the other options that exist.
Many TCM acupuncturists have four rooms on the go at the same time. We treat one client per hour session. This allows time for cupping, tuina massage, moxabustion, electro-acupuncture, TCM herbs, traditional nutritional suggestion And of course, Acupuncture!
Physiotherapists do not generally learn the ancient ways of healing. They focus on the muscles only. At our clinic we incorporate motor point theories when treating pain, like the physios. However, our approach does not involve using large needles and we treat the entire constitution at the same time.
Naturopaths do learn the traditional ways of the Chinese meridian theories and 5 elements. Their education is a wide scope, where as ours focused solely on TCM. We suggest herbs only if the acupuncture is not strong enough on its own.
What is Traditional Chinese Medical Theory?
TCM theory originated thousands of years ago through the observation of nature, the cosmos, and the human body. Major theories include those of Yin-yang, the Five Phases, the human body Channel/Meridian system and the Zang Fu organ theory. TCM theories and treatment protocols are used to harmonize both body and psyche, guiding one through a process of transformation and healing. With the use of ancient theories, acupuncture solutions treats the root of the individual problem to create a strong and vital constitution.
